ZOLL Announces the Acquisition of Philips InnerCool Temperature Management

ZOLL Medical Corp. has signed an agreement to purchase substantially all of the assets of Philips’ InnerCool temperature management business, which includes catheter-based endovascular and surface temperature management technologies designed to improve outcomes for patients with a variety of temperature management-related needs.

InnerCool’s technology includes the RTx Endovascular System, the Accutrol Catheter, and the CoolRepeat and STx Surface Cooling Systems. All four products have regulatory clearance in the United States. The acquisition provides synergy with ZOLL’s acute critical care portfolio of temperature management products.

“The combination of InnerCool with ZOLL’s existing temperature management technologies expands ZOLL’s position as the leading provider of high technology systems for precise temperature management,” said James Palazzolo, President of ZOLL. “This underscores our commitment to provide a wide variety of clinical temperature therapies based on physician preference and clinical judgment.”

The InnerCool assets also provide ZOLL with a rich patent portfolio and pipeline of future products. InnerCool will be integrated into ZOLL’s Temperature Management business in San Jose, Calif.
