The board members of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association elected Todd Currier, CASC, CEO and administrator of Bend Surgery Center in Bend, Oregon, as the new board president.
Headquartered in Alexandria, ASCA is the national trade association that represents more than 6,500 Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery centers across the U.S. and provides advocacy and resources to assist members in delivering high-quality, cost-effective outpatient surgery and other medical procedures to millions of patients every year.
During a meeting held in conjunction with the ASCA + SAMBA Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C., May 13-16, Currier received the unanimous support of the ASCA board members and will lead the organization for a two-year term.
“It is an honor and privilege to step into the role as president of ASCA,” Currier said. “Our members are the driving force behind this organization, and I look forward to working alongside them.”
Currier has been a member of the ASCA board since 2023 and served as treasurer from 2024-2026. A healthcare industry veteran of 20 years, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ASC that he heads. Prior to joining Bend Surgery Center, he worked as an ASC administrator in Wyoming, Montana and Washington state. He is an officer of the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association and was an original founder of the state ASC association of Wyoming.
“In the years ahead, we will remain focused on supporting our members in the areas that help them provide safe, high-quality care through advocacy and legislation, free education and benchmarking resources, collaboration with our state associations, and the flexibility to adapt to emerging challenges,” Currier said.
Currier has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Southern Oregon University, is a certified public accountant and is a fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and other outdoor activities.
ASCA board members serve three-year terms, and ASCA bylaws require that its board members be physicians, nurses, managers and other representatives as determined by the board of directors. These members also serve on the ASCA Foundation board.
