Henry Schein Inc. and Team Schein Members (TSMs) from around the world are once again helping to brighten the holidays for individuals in need. Through its 26th annual “Holiday Cheer” program, TSMs at 15 company locations delivered joy to more than 1,150 individuals in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland this season.
Since 1999, this corporate flagship initiative has helped more than 20,000 underserved children, their families, and senior citizens experience cheerful holidays, with TSMs donating clothing, comfort items, toys, gift cards, and more.
At Henry Schein’s corporate headquarters in Melville, New York, Team Schein hosted a “Holiday Cheer for Children” event, where 100 children and their families opened presents while enjoying a fun-filled night with dinner, games and music. In addition, 300 children received gift cards purchased through support from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation to help alleviate some of the financial burden many individuals face during the holidays. “We are thrilled to once again spread holiday cheer to individuals all over the world,” said Stanley M. Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein. “This program goes beyond being an annual tradition; it reflects Team Schein’s deep commitment to supporting our local communities. Thank you to all of Team Schein who make this program possible, bringing the spirit of giving throughout the years. We look forward to many more years of ‘Holiday Cheer.’ ”
In support of the communities surrounding the company’s corporate headquarters, Henry Schein partnered with 10 Long Island-based social service organizations to pre-identify participating children and their families, including: Bethany House; Espoir Youth Program, Inc.; Family and Children’s Association; Family Service League; Hispanic Counseling Center; Madonna Heights; Nassau County Department of Social Services; The Raymar Children’s Fund; WellLife Network; and YES Community Counseling Center.
“Joy, compassion and hope are woven into Henry Schein’s ‘Holiday Cheer’ program. This unique initiative captures the essence of the holiday spirit by funding gifts for children and meals for families. For decades, this program has created countless unforgettable memories for individuals struggling financially. Our thanks to Henry Schein for their generosity,” said Karen Boorshtein, president and CEO of the Family Service League.
“Holiday Cheer” takes different forms depending on the location. The inaugural program in the United States served 200 children. “Holiday Cheer” is an initiative of Henry Schein Cares and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation Inc, aligning with the five pillars of focus of the company’s corporate citizenship work. The program provides an opportunity for TSMs to give back to the community while engaging the team.
“We are sincerely grateful to Henry Schein for once again supporting us through ‘Holiday Cheer’ for this year,” said Sinéad Toomey, principal of the Thomond Primary School in Ireland. “Thank you for your continued support and for providing this wonderful opportunity for our pupils. Your generosity brings the magic of the holiday season to our school, and I know that it will be a special and memorable experience for everyone involved.”
