Cleveland Clinic, ranked No. 1 in heart care for 30 years and known around the world as a leading academic health system, is committed to expanding its exceptional care for the residents of Palm Beach County.
For more than 15 years, Cleveland Clinic has cared for patients at the outpatient center at City Place in West Palm Beach. To meet the evolving needs of the community, Cleveland Clinic is planning the construction of a new hospital and a major expansion of outpatient services. Cleveland Clinic’s investment will be accompanied by a robust fundraising campaign.
“Palm Beach County has long been an area where we have planned to grow to enhance care for the community,” said Tom Mihaljevic, M.D., CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic and the holder of the Morton L. Mandel CEO Chair. “Our expansion plan will transform care for the community with a new hospital and outpatient clinics that provide a broad range of specialties, greater access and innovative patient experience programs. We have started an accelerated fundraising effort with the support of many visionary and compassionate Palm Beach County residents.”
Cleveland Clinic has identified and is in the process of purchasing land for a new hospital in West Palm Beach. The plans for the new hospital include approximately 150 inpatient beds, an emergency department, a medical office building and an ambulatory surgery center.
In addition, Cleveland Clinic will lease space at 15 CityPlace for a new outpatient location that will nearly quadruple the square footage of the existing Cleveland Clinic Health Center. Additional services will include chemotherapy and infusions, a concierge medicine program, imaging, endoscopy and outpatient surgery. As the fundraising campaign kicks off in 2025, and donors throughout the community get involved, community updates with further details can be shared.
“A broad range of specialties will be provided in the new hospital with the flexibility to adapt and add specialty care as the needs of the Palm Beach community evolve. Priority specialties will include heart, vascular and thoracic care, digestive disease care, neurological care and cancer care,” said Conor P. Delaney, M.D., Ph.D., president, Cleveland Clinic’s Florida Market.
Cleveland Clinic has had a presence in South Florida for more than 30 years, providing high-quality care with a focus on safety and patient experience. Cleveland Clinic Weston is ranked as the No. 1 hospital in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Metro Area. In 2007, Cleveland Clinic was the first out-of-state provider to open a West Palm Beach medical office. Cleveland Clinic subsequently opened clinics in Palm Beach Gardens and Wellington.
Cleveland Clinic’s model of care integrates clinical care with research and education to serve the needs of our communities now and in the future. Cleveland Clinic’s transformation of care in Palm Beach County will connect Cleveland Clinic care in South Florida from Weston Hospital furthest south up the coast to Martin, Tradition, and Indian River hospitals north of Palm Beach.
