Traditional methods of documenting professional achievements and evidence of life-long learning may not capture the essence of the practicing perioperative nurse’s multi-faceted role. This presentation will provide an alternate means to demonstrate competent practice through the development of a professional portfolio. The benefits of a professional portfolio from staff and management perspectives will be clearly articulated. Attendees will be given an opportunity to build their own professional portfolios during an interactive in-class activity.

Juliana Mower has over 30 years of experience as a perioperative nurse and educator. In addition to developing resources for exam preparation, she serves as the project lead for transitioning CCI’s advanced practice credential from an exam-based to a portfolio-based method of certification.
