Electrosurgical instruments play a critical role in today’s operating room, but even small defects in instrument insulation can create risks that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. The McGan Insulation Tester from Healthmark, a Getinge company, is designed to help healthcare facilities identify insulation defects such as pinholes, cracks, and bare spots on laparoscopic and bipolar electrosurgical instruments before they return to clinical use.
This handheld, portable unit uses low-frequency high-voltage testing to evaluate the integrity of protective coatings applied over conductive instrument surfaces. By helping detect flaws that may contribute to unintended tissue burns during procedures, the Insulation Tester supports facilities in their efforts to maintain instrument quality and patient safety.
Designed with usability in mind, the rechargeable system features LED indicators, audible and visual alarms, and interchangeable accessories including ring, brush, and tri-hole electrodes to accommodate a variety of instrument types and testing needs. Optional accessories are also available for bipolar instruments and wire testing applications.
Compact, versatile, and workflow-friendly, the McGan Insulation Tester provides perioperative and sterile processing teams with an additional layer of inspection support for electrosurgical instrumentation management.
