Fluorinated Solvents Provide Effective Cleaning of Medical Devices

Amolea AT2 and the AsahiKlin AE-3000 series of environmentally sensible fluorinated solvents from AGC Chemicals provide medical device manufacturers a safer, highly effective and environmentally friendly alternative to other solvents such as n-propyl bromide and trichloroethylene. These cleaning agents have no flash point, no ozone depletion potential (ODP), low global warming potential (LGWP) and low surface tension. They are used to clean a range of medical devices like orthopedic implants, catheters, tubes, scopes, needles, dental devices and surgical tools, to name a few applications.

AGC will feature Amolea AT2 and AsahiKlin AE-3000 cleaning solvents at MD&M West, booth 2360, February 11-13, 2020 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

These nonflammable fluorinated cleaning solvents are chemically and thermally stable. Because they have no flash point, explosion-proof equipment is not required. In addition, they are energy efficient due to their low latent heat of vaporization and can be recycled with distillation. They are ideal for many applications because they are compatible with a broad range of materials including delicate substrates.

In addition to fluorosolvents, AGC is introducing FORBLUE sunsep membrane gas dryers for a variety of medical gas humidification processes. Made with FORBLUE Flemion ion exchange membranes, AGC’s sunsep humidifier systems are an environmentally friendly and easy-to-use solution because no power source is required. The system is maintenance- and bacteria-free and quiet during use for patients’ comfort.
