Surgical efficiency has always been a top priority for healthcare executives, as operating rooms (ORs) traditionally drive 75-85% of a hospital’s profit. The COVID-19 pandemic has further underscored the priority as disrupted surgical volumes have pinched hospital margins.

Surgical volumes are also challenged by the ongoing threat of new, emerging pathogens, such as antibiotic-resistant Candida auris, as well as staff shortages, staff burnout and supply chain shortages.
