This summer, the U.S. Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) advanced several significant policies that affect ASCs and respond to years of advocacy efforts involving ASC professionals from across the country.

Now, I’d like to share some of the data we have seen recently that presents compelling evidence that ASCs offer a quality of care that is on par with, and often superior to, the care available from other outpatient surgery providers.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment Transparency Act of 2018 (H.R. 6138). This important legislation will improve access to high-quality outpatient health care.

With this new credential, ASC infection preventionists (IP) can now demonstrate their commitment to best practices in infection prevention and control within the ASC setting.
