Healthmark, a Getinge company, has announced its new AAMI Level 4 Decontamination Gown, designed specifically to support sterile processing professionals working in high-fluid, high-exposure decontamination environments.
At Healthmark, every day begins with a focus on the sterile processing department (SPD), the critical frontline of patient safety where cleaning, inspection and preparation of surgical instruments take place. The new AAMI Level 4 Decontamination Gown was developed with the realities of SPD workflows in mind, balancing protection, wearability and ease of use for technicians who spend hours working in demanding decontamination conditions.
Compliant with ANSI/AAMI PB70:2022 Level 4 fluid barrier requirements, the gown is designed to help protect against fluid and microorganism exposure during device sorting and decontamination activities. The gown also features a reinforced diamond front panel designed to provide enhanced coverage and strike-through resistance in high-exposure areas.
“Our goal was simple, create a gown specifically for sterile processing professionals, not adapt a product originally intended for another environment,” said Dan Basile, managing director of Healthmark. “SPD teams face unique challenges every day, and they deserve PPE designed around the way they actually work.”
The gown incorporates several features intended to improve protection and wearability, including:
- AAMI Level 4 fluid barrier protection
- Reinforced diamond front panel for enhanced coverage
- 40% lighter construction compared to Healthmark’s legacy decontamination gown offering
- Adjustable waist closure for a secure fit
- Hook-and-loop neck closure, thumb loops and pull tab features designed to support easier donning and doffing
