From First Case to Last
October 29, 2026
Andrew Dale, Clinical Specialist, HARPS Global
This session follows the operating room from first-case preparation through the final case of the day, examining how environmental cleanliness, infection prevention, patient safety, and room efficiency contribute to a safe surgical environment. Participants will explore common challenges during room preparation and case turnover, including overlooked safety risks, equipment and workflow issues, PPE and glove considerations, and maintaining readiness for the specific patient and procedure. The session will also address how fatigue, distractions, unexpected events, and changing conditions throughout the day can affect surgical team performance—and strategies to maintain safety, sterility, and efficiency from the first case to the last.
