As healthcare professionals who work with surgical instruments much of their success depends on their ability to understand and handle surgical instruments. The main purpose of this webinar is to simplify the learning process for surgical instruments and issues that commonly occur with them. This program will address reusable medical device costs and the importance of proper care and handling of common reusable medical devices like stainless steel, laparoscopic instruments, and flexible and rigid endoscopes. This program will also discuss how each roll in surgical services departments can better handle these critical reusable medical device assets.

Certification: Eligible for one (1) continuing (CE) hour by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing. Eligible for 1 credit for IAHCSMM and CBSPD.

 
About the Presenter: Kevin Anderson worked for 18 years in the acute care setting serving in various clinical and leadership capacities including clinical coordinator of general surgery, operating room manager and manager of sterile processing and endoscopy services. His sterile processing team was recognized with IAHCSMM’s Confidence Builder Award for their outstanding quality improvement in 2018. Kevin is a published author with articles featured in Outpatient Surgery and the AORN Executive Newsletter.
