Aspen Surgical Products, a market-leading manufacturer and supplier of perioperative surgical solutions, has acquired Ruhof Healthcare – a pioneer in enzymatic detergents, instrument reprocessing and cleaning verification.
This acquisition accelerates Aspen Surgical’s expansion across the operating room, sterile processing and endoscopy. It unites two leaders dedicated to infection prevention, product quality and clinical performance.
Founded in 1976 and headquartered in Mineola, New York, Ruhof is widely recognized for delivering innovative decontamination and reprocessing solutions, including Endozime enzymatic detergents, the ScopeValet line of single-use consumables, and the CleanRead ATP-based contamination monitoring system. Ruhof generates approximately $50 million in annual revenue and serves customers across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries through a robust global distribution network.
“This acquisition strengthens Aspen Surgical’s position in environments where surgical instruments, endoscopes, and reusable devices are processed and prepared for patient care,” said Jørgen B. Hansen, chief executive officer of Aspen Surgical. “Ruhof Healthcare brings market-leading expertise in enzymatic detergents, decontamination, and cleaning verification. Together, we will better support healthcare providers with the high-quality solutions they rely on.”
With Ruhof, Aspen Surgical enters critical categories that support infection prevention and streamline workflows. The portfolios now include advanced enzymatic detergents, automated and manual reprocessing solutions, digital cleaning verification, single-use endoscopy consumables, and full instrument refurbishment devices.
Ruhof’s portfolio strengthens Aspen Surgical’s SPD360 Performance Solutions platform and complements its well-known brands, including Symmetry, Bookwalter and Precept. The combined portfolio deepens the company’s ability to comprehensively support hospitals and ambulatory centers from instrument preparation to sterilization and point-of-care.
With Ruhof’s addition, Aspen Surgical expands its manufacturing and innovation capabilities, strengthening its presence across North America and accelerating expansion into high-growth international markets, including Latin America and Europe.
The acquisition includes all Ruhof operations, brands, and product lines. Aspen Surgical will begin a coordinated integration process immediately, with no near-term disruption anticipated for customers, suppliers, or employees.
