The recent OR Today webinar “Manual Cleaning: Why? How? What if?” was sponsored by STERIS. The webinar addressed how the proper brush selection is critical to the thorough and effective cleaning of instruments.
Key Surgical Clinical Educator for Sterile Processing Jamie Zarembinski discussed the different brush materials available and their characteristics. She also explained several topics including things to consider when selecting a brush, differences between disposable and reusable brushes, and the cleaning and sterilization of brushes. Attendees also learned how to apply industry guidelines. In addition, Zarembinski discussed the risk of not following recommended practices and manufacturer IFUs when using brushes.
The webinar was popular with 293 individuals registered for the session and 146 in attendance for the live presentation. A recording of the webinar is available for on-demand viewing at ORTodayWebinars.live.
