The recent OR Today webinar “Improving Patient Safety with Safe Surgery Checklists” was sponsored by LiveData.
Safe surgery checklists are essential to patient safety during surgical procedures. The brief pause created by completing the checklist allows the team to double-check critical details related to the patient, the surgical procedure, and the equipment being used. Too often, though, surgical teams lack the tools necessary for completing an effective timeout.
In the webinar, Jeff Robbins, LiveData founder and CEO, was joined by LiveData Director of Perioperative Operational Excellence Aileen Killen, Ph.D., RN, to share their decades of experience with surgical safety. They discussed how new technologies, tools and processes can increase communication, and improve the quality and safety of surgical care.
The webinar also included a question-and-answer session where the presenters answered questions about improving communication through the surgical journey, access to studies referenced in the discussion and tips for improving a timeout procedure.
The webinar was popular with 151 registered and 57 joined for the live presentation.
