The Importance of Proper Point of Use Treatment and Transport

This 60-minute webinar will feature Kevin Anderson, Clinical Education Coordinator for Healthmark Industries. Join Kevin as he discusses the proper techniques for point of use treatment, transportation systems, and labeling. This presentation will define the current requirements for proper point of use treatment, also known as pre cleaning for medical devices, including transportation from the procedure room to the sterile processing area. In addition to IFU requirements, current standards and guideline recommendations for this process will be reviewed along with information from the latest published studies and adverse event reports. Kevin will define the best practices for point of use treatment, including any inspection steps and outline how to implement these practices in your facility.
About the Presenter: Kevin Anderson is a Clinical Education Coordinator for Healthmark Industries. He is a registered nurse (BSN) with multiple certifications including CNOR, CSSM, CRCST, CHL, CIS and CER. He is also currently pursuing an MBA. Before joining Healthmark Industries, Kevin worked for 18 years in the acute care setting serving in various clinical and leadership capacities including clinical coordinator of general surgery, operating room manager and manager of sterile processing and endoscopy services. His sterile processing team was recognized with IAHCSMM’s Confidence Builder Award for their outstanding quality improvement in 2018. Kevin is a published author with articles featured in Outpatient Surgery and AORN Executive Newsletter. He also enjoys producing his own written content and presenting at industry conferences, using his experiences to improve quality, education, and integrity within the field of sterile processing. He is also an active member of AORN and sits on multiple working groups for AAMI.
