About the Presenter: Melanie A Burton BSN RN CNOR MLSO, Independent Consultant/Nurse Educator. Melanie has been a PeriOperative Nurse since 1971, a member of AORN since 1980, and a CNOR since 1991. After retiring from Swedish Hospital in Seattle in 2010, she was a Travel Nurse working in different environments in Alaska, Idaho and Washington. She has been President of her Seattle Chapter, President of The Washington State Council of PeriOperative Nurses, member of the AORN Government Affairs Committee, member of AORN CEAC for five years and is the outgoing AORN Retired Nurses Specialty Assembly Council Chair. With a passion for excellence in safe patient care she was recruited by the TIDI Products company, that has the motto of “Supporting Caregivers and Preventing Infections”, to be a Nurse Technical Support Specialist, Consultant, and Nurse EducatorMelanie has presented, nationally, on numerous occasions, on the topic of infection prevention and the prevention of SSIs and has presented to the Retired Nurses Specialty Assembly at AORN Expo 2017 and 2018, on the subject of retirement.
