Research validates effectiveness of Steris UV system

In response to a healthcare industry need to address the infection control gaps that many times linger following manual disinfection processes, Steris Corp., a leading provider of infection prevention solutions, introduces the Pathogon UV Disinfection System.

The Pathogon system was developed to optimize the manual surface disinfection process by minimizing the risk of cross contamination caused by missed surfaces or insufficient contact times for liquid chemical disinfectants, and has been proven effective against a wide range of organisms. It uses a narrow band of ultraviolet light to reduce or kill lingering pathogens on environmental surfaces, including pathogens associated with healthcare acquired infections, as a final step in decontaminating patient rooms, ORs, preand post-op rooms, and the emergency department.

An independent lab evaluated the Pathogon system under GLP standardized testing conditions to show the system’s effectiveness against a range of pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobactor baumannii, vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, MRSA, influenza A, human norovirus (Feline calicivirus surrogate tested) and Clostridium difficile spore.
