Halyard to Offer Hands-On Simulation of a Revolutionary SPD System at 2019 IAHCSMM Conference & Expo

Halyard, now part of the Owens & Minor family and a leading global provider of solutions for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, will offer SPD professionals the opportunity to learn and experience how they can optimize their practice and reduce surgical site infections with flexible design solutions at the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) Annual Conference & Expo. Halyard will provide visitors with a guided tour of the HALYARD* and BELINTRA® SMART-FOLD* STERISYSTEM® – the first two-touch solution of its kind – through four interactive hospital environments as well as an in-booth education session and poster presentation exploring compelling data on the efficacy of sterilization packaging systems.

The following activities will take place from Sunday, April 28 through Wednesday, May 1 in booth #410 at the Marriott and Convention Center in Anaheim, CA:

Hands-On Simulation

WHAT: Experience an interactive tour of four streamlined and efficient hospital environments – Decontamination, Prep & Pack, Sterile Storage, and the OR. Participants will be guided through each space and learn how Halyard’s unique solutions, including SMART-FOLD* High Performance Sterilization Wrap and Belintra Storage and Transport, enable SPD professionals to increase efficiency and save space while reducing the chance for tears, cuts and holes.

WHEN/WHERE: Booth #410 throughout the duration of the conference.

In-Booth Accredited Education

WHAT: Participate in a 30-minute program providing an overview of four clinical studies that evaluate sterilization packaging systems (SPS), including rigid containers and sterilization wrap. Infection preventionist Peggy Luebbert (MS, MT, CIC, CHSP) will teach participants how to identify new potential sources of infection and explore strategies for mitigating risk.

WHEN/WHERE: Booth #410:

  • Monday, April 29: 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm
  • Tuesday, April 30: 8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am

Poster Presentation

WHAT: View the poster “Over a Decade of Evidence: An Analysis of 4 Studies Evaluating SPD and How You Can Take Action in Your CS Department,” authored by Peggy Luebbert (MS, MT, CIC, CHSP). Explore the first literature review examining studies that compare rigid containers and sterilization wrap.

WHEN/WHERE: In the Poster Gallery section of the Exhibit Hall for the duration of the conference.
