‘Engagement’ Webinar a Hit with OR Leaders

The OR Today Webinar Series continued with a presentation by David L. Taylor III, MSN, RN, CNOR. Taylor is the Director of the CVOR at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

The webinar “Engagement: Harnessing Organizational Energy for Transformational Change” attracted 134 attendees. Taylor addressed how hospital administrators and nursing leaders must understand the value of proactively managing day-to-day operations and clinical activities to improve performance. By creating an environment that promotes safety, accountability and collaboration these leaders can mitigate failure and optimize innovation that improves the delivery of safe and effective care.

He also spoke to how the personal guidance of today’s nurse leaders is critical in the success of any change management initiative. In his presentation, attendees heard how to address obstacles that prevent their departments from achieving high performance in clinical and financial outcomes. Additionally, Taylor shared economic and strategic considerations as they relate to an ever changing health care environment. He also reviewed key aspects of succession planning.

The webinar ended with a Q&A session and a thought-provoking video that would be beneficial for every hospital employee to view.

The webinar received positive reviews from attendees.

“Before the webinar I had already started with some changes in the OR department and this webinar has given me some ideas to improve. Thank you,” Jacqueline C. said.
